Does anyone know which airline has the oldest fleet ?

In general, by region it's the African carriers. The average age of the 728 registered aircraft in Africa is 18 years. Some African airlines are currently undergoing fleet modernation though. South African Airways (SAA), Egypt Air, and Ethiopian airlines for example. Ethiopian Airlines is actually scheduled to take delivery of the second 787-8 Dreamliner from Boeing next year.

Among the big domestic carriers, Northwest Airlines (NWA)has the oldest fleet when using average age as measurement at around 18 years. Continental (CAL) has the youngest by the same measure at 9 years.

Thanks ... would you say that there is a link between the oldest fleets and excess purchases on parts ?
